The benefits of singing together have been proven over and over again. But you don’t need to read the scientific studies to know that, you just need to go and sing with other people for an hour or so.

(Or even have it taken away for a year or two, thanks to a global pandemic!)

If you are looking for some group singing in or around Leeds, I would love to see you at a Choir or Singing Group soon.

  • The way I think of it, a choir will be a group with 2 or more parts - we’ll be singing in harmony. In my choirs, there’s usually 3 or 4 harmony parts, which means there’ll be some level of instruction/learning during the sessions. We’re probably working towards a performance of some kind, so we spend time rehearsing to make sure things are sounding good.

In my ‘Singing Groups’, there’s usually no learning and harmony parts are rare. I pick songs that are well-known or easy to pick up. We don’t tend to work towards performance - the purpose is to have fun ‘in the moment’.

MORE INFO:

I have been running choirs for over 15 years, covering a range of ‘Popular Music’ genres.

I currently lead choirs for JazzLeeds and Chapel Allerton Arts Festival, as well as being a dep choir leader for a number of choirs local to Leeds. I run a Singing Group for Seacroft Friends and Neighbours called Open Voices, which developed from an online project developed in 2020 with funding from ‘Leeds Inspired’ and ‘Live Well Leeds,’ called ‘Singing It Out.’

‘Singing It Out’ still runs online sessions for organisations such as The Fostering Network.

If you are interested in hiring me to lead a choir or singing group for your event/organisation, please contact me directly. If you want to read more about my Choir Leading/Teaching credentials, visit my bio.

If you would like to purchase my arrangements for your own choir to perform, you are very welcome.
